The Fairmont W60 series A Derrick Car was restored over a period of several years and is now a fully functional car restored to it's original condition. Below are additional photos taken during the restoration process.

The restored derrick car waiting to be taken to Casey Holt Junction. This derrick was built by Fairmont Railway Motors Inc. of Fairmont Minnesota. The derrick could handle loads of up to 3,000 pounds with a boom that reaches up to seven feet from the center of the track. The deck provides space for hauling timbers or other loads, as well as a working platform when the drrick is at a job site. The boom swings a full 360 degress with a two-speed hoist. The derrick weighs 1700 pounds and measures 7 feet wide by 9 feet 3 1/2 inches long.

Note the rail clamps on the bottom side of the derrick on both the left and right sides of the car.
